prior to formally starting making music, i created a couple of random experiments using my grandpa's phone and garageband. for context as to why that, i didn't have a way to make music prior. i did have instruments, but unless i was recording them on my parents' phones, they weren't getting recorded. additionally, every couple months, me and my grandpa would go get haircuts together. while i waited for his haircut to be done, he would let me play on his phone. eventually, i discovered garageband and would make these projects before having to go home. i revisited them for an upcoming project and they're quite abstract, but they do have a little charmm to them. eventually, me and gramps stopped getting haircuts together, opting to just let my mom cut my hair (which i still do lol).
the one everyone's familiar with and my main music identity! yes, i used to create music under my deadname (which legally i still use, although hopefully that isn't true for much longer). my main project through all this, i've gone through a lot of different phases. my early work (my first album "what" and most of the follow-up "what 2.0") was just me messing around in bandlab and midi instruments. eventually, it moved into basically using bandlab loops to create songs on "lateral approximants". i made more electronic music but began trying more guitar stuff by the time the follow-up "the fun of being the last ones awake". between the release of that album and its eventual follow-up, i began more getting into shoegaze and specifically Les Rallizes Denudes, which is EXACTLY why "slow day for a snow day" sounds like that. and after a smattering of compilations and EPs, i finally released my most recent album, "we might be okay, just not right now", on may 31st of this year!
nightmare boys was a project i worked on with an online friend of mine. it was meant to be a side project from my own work but we really only put out a couple songs before going inactive. in 2025, we both formally agreed that there really wasn't a point in continuing the project since he wasn't interested in using the name and i'm no longer a boy. we put out a compilation of all the music we made together and you can find it on our label's bandcamp (more on that in a bit)
funnily enough, popped off was almost like a side project of nightmare boys. same online friend, but we really just focused on making as much bullshit as we could. no musical talent was put in and more often than not, it was less music and more editing to funny shitposts. we don't have a focus, or a point, or anything like that. we just put out whatever we want. our last two releases have literally just been breaks we've come up with. however, we needed a place we could release this music, so we jointly created...
our own quote unquote "record label"! legally speaking it isn't really a label, it's just something to collect these releases. however it is open to new artists, but we've also never worked with any artists we don't know, so... we'll see how that works. initially, popped off was the only project on the label. this changed in 2023 as we expanded what we'd do with the label. in that year, we released a bootleg of a live show by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, a completely unofficial various artists compilation, and a live set on WFMU by The Frogs. additionally, after nightmare boys officially ended, tmu not only put out the previously mentioned compilation, but also a new ep by another new side project of ours.
after the release of "slow day for a snow day", i realized i really liked making this shoegaze/post-rock music, but wanted to tone down the excessive noise and feedback present on the release. i also wanted to try and focus on making more conventional playing for my main project. and so, lath was born! yes, i did steal the name specifically from the ultrakill level, not just from the godspeed album. after two singles/EPs, i put out the debut for the project, "you get the idea", in july of 2024. the most recent release was in december, a short EP titled "not enough time for us all".
was my attempt at making harsh noise. i say potentially a one-off project because i don't really see myself returning to this name any time soon. just not really interested in harsh noise as much anymore. the one song i put out, "somethingwrong?", samples Braid's song "I'm Afraid of Everything", so that's cool, i guess.
this is just a new soundcloud account i made because i refuse to pay for soundcloud pro or whatever to get more time. haven't really used it much. not much else to say.
after me and my online friend agreeed nightmare boys would be over, we still wanted another project. so, we grabbed another online friend of ours and made go ship yourself. we only have one release out on tmu, but hope to get another one out soon.
my latest side project. based off a joking name i made for a band one of my friends was starting, the project's main influences are bands like the locust and other synthy sasscore bands like them. it's loud, abrasive, absurd, and will eventually have the same creativity with song titles that the locust had. we have three demos and a single out now and will be putting out our debut album before the end of the year, potentially on a label. we will see!
